One designer. Multiple disciplines. One unmistakable point of view.

CGaia Designs is a Houston-based multidisciplinary design studio led by Christy Gaia, working across interiors, floral, seasonal and experiential design.

I did not arrive here through one door.

Before design, I spent a career as a Vice President of Human Resources. That work taught me structure, logistics and how to run something complicated without letting it feel complicated to the person on the other side. When I left it for design, I brought all of that with me.

What followed was floral. Then interiors. Then seasonal installations, then events, then production work. Each discipline informed the next. Flowers taught me color in a way no swatch book could. Interiors taught me proportion and how a room actually gets used. Production taught me how to build something enormous on a deadline that does not move.

I never narrowed. That turned out to be the advantage.

The work is the subject.

Most designers specialize. We see the entire visual environment.

That means the florals relate to the interiors. The seasonal installation respects the architecture. The event does not feel like décor set on top of a room, it feels like the room was always meant to look that way.

Clients rarely come to us for an object. They come because they know how they want a space or an occasion to feel, and they need someone who can translate that into something tangible.

They are buying creative direction.

How the work looks

Bold, layered and immersive. Texture-driven. Built on color relationships rather than color rules, which is what allows florals and interiors to speak to each other instead of competing.

The scale is deliberate. Installations are large when the space can hold it, and edited hard when it cannot.

Decorating The White House

Christy has been selected to help decorate The White House for Christmas — one of roughly 150 volunteer decorators chosen from more than 15,000 applicants nationwide. She will spend a full week in Washington, D.C., bringing the People’s House to life for the holidays.

Giving back

The CEO Gala has been part of the CGaia calendar for years, with the floral vision donated in full each time.

That work is approached at the same scale and with the same standard as any commissioned installation. Beauty in service of something larger deserves nothing less.

“Christy made the entire process feel effortless. She understood our vision almost immediately and brought together details we never would have thought of ourselves.”

For planners, producers and trade

CGaia Designs is available for freelance and collaborative design work with planners, production companies, floral studios, venues, interior designers and creative agencies, based in Houston and available to travel.

Some of the best projects are ones where our name is not on the invoice.

We work regularly as part of larger creative teams: national floral installations, television and film production, galas and destination work. We are comfortable executing someone else's creative direction at a high standard, on a production timeline, without needing to lead the room.

Who we work with:

  • Event and wedding planners
  • Floral designers and studios
  • Production and television teams
  • Corporate clients and foundations
  • Event venues
  • Interior designers
  • Builders, contractors and trades
  • Restaurants, retailers and commercial businesses
  • Showrooms and vendors
  • Creative agencies and experiential teams

What that looks like:

  • Freelance floral design and installation
  • Large-scale production support
  • On-site styling and execution
  • Travel and destination projects
  • Collaboration with existing design teams

Engagements are typically scoped by day, by installation or by project. Selected production and event credits are available on request; confidentiality agreements limit what can be shown publicly.

Trade and production inquiries do not need the full questionnaire. Email [email to come] or select Freelance / Production on the inquiry form for the short version.
